Prospective MP for the Cities of London and Westminster, Tim Barnes, responds to Labour's tax plans and what they will mean for everyone.
"A complete mess by Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth on BBC Radio 4 this morning dissecting the leaders' debate last night.
"When challenged on the £2,000 extra tax that everyone will be required to pay according to the numbers in the public domain, he refused to answer where it would come from. He said it wouldn't come from VAT, Income tax or National insurance which is a reasonable response.
"However, these are the big taxes so to get the totals needed, there would have to be some significant changes.
"Sir Keir said in the debate that specific Taxes will rise- which leads us to question if they know themselves since they have not told us the specific taxes set to rise.
"Labour has instead resorted to, saying the claim is a lie. In my opinion, this claim may be inaccurate, but it is certainly not a complete lie. it is just an attempt to piece together what they are not telling us. He evaded answering that, too.
"Ashworth repeated Sir Keir's line, that if a relative needed urgent, critical, healthcare he wouldn't pay for private care even if he could.
"That's dogma over basic humanity. Many cannot pay, but I am not aware of anyone who wouldn't want to pay if their loved one needed it! It would be an awful choice to make... can you imagine telling someone that you could relieve their suffering, but you won't, just to score political points?
"There are plenty of perfectly good reasons to be unhappy with life in recent years, but any government expecting to take office should be able to be open about their tax plans and to show they are emotionally connected to those they care for."
